The Brisbane Gang Show is a variety musical produced by Scouts Queensland each year, historically performing at the Schonell Theatre – St Lucia. The cast is made up of approximately 140 young people between the ages of 9 and 25 from both the Scout and Guide movements. The production is family friendly with special school holiday prices available for the matinee performances. The Brisbane Gang Show is Australia’s longest running Gang Show and has been running consecutively in Brisbane since 1952.
Over the years the Brisbane Gang Show has seen several Producers – Jack Hair (1952-1957), Jack Haffenden (1958 – 1960), Hugh “Kirra” McKee (1958 – 1982), Jim Dryden (1983-1988), Peter Blatch (1989 – 1999), Brian Craig (2000 – 2005), Geoff Doo (2006 – 2014) and current producer since 2015 Trevor O’Hara who concludes his service in this role in 2021. Rhiannah Boch is taking over from Trevor with a new title of Director and will be the first female ‘producer’ of the show in its 70 years history. These producers have helped shaped the Brisbane Gang Show as one of Queensland’s leading amateur theatrical productions.
In 2021 the Brisbane Gang Show will celebrate the 70th consecutive season.
