BGS Costume Hire – Terms and Conditions
1. General Conditions
1.1. Costumes are hired out by [Brisbane Gang Show ] (“the Group”) for use in theatrical performances, events, or approved activities only.
1.2. The hirer (“you”) agrees to care for all items as if they were your own property.
1.3. By collecting costumes, you agree to these terms and conditions.
2. Hire Period
2.1. The standard hire period is 7 days from the date of collection unless otherwise agreed in writing by the head of wardrobe and the producer.
2.2. Late returns may incur additional hire fees or replacement charges.
2.3. Extensions to the hire period must be requested in advance in writing and are subject to availability.
3. Fees and Payment
3.1. All hire fees and refundable deposits are to be paid prior to collection unless otherwise approved.
3.2. A refundable security bond is required at the time of collection. this ammount will vary based on types and quanities of costumes.
3.3. The bond will be refunded upon the safe and timely return of all costumes, subject to inspection by the Head of Wardobe by his or her representative.
4. Condition of Costumes
4.1. All costumes are provided clean and in good condition.
4.2. The hirer must not cut, alter, dye, glue, or permanently modify any costume.
4.3. The hirer is responsible for the full replacement cost of any items lost, damaged, or permanently altered.
5. Cleaning and Maintenance
5.1. Costumes must not be washed or dry-cleaned by the hirer unless specifically authorised.
5.2. The Group will manage all cleaning and maintenance as part of the hire fee (unless otherwise agreed).
5.3. Any items returned soiled beyond normal use may incur a cleaning surcharge.
6. Loss or Damage
6.1. The hirer accepts full responsibility for the costumes from the time of collection until return.
6.2. If an item is lost or damaged beyond repair, the hirer will be invoiced for the full replacement value.
6.3. The replacement value will be determined by the Group based on material, labour, and/or historic value.
7. Use and Attribution
7.1. Costumes must not be sub-hired or loaned to third parties.
7.2. Where practical, credit to “[Brisbane Gang Show] Costume Department” should be acknowledged in production programs or promotional materials.
8. Returns
8.1. All costumes must be returned by the agreed date, neatly hung and labelled.
8.2. Missing hangers or costume bags must also be replaced or paid for.
8.3. Returns will be inspected upon receipt; any issues will be discussed with the hirer.
9. Cancellations
9.1. Cancellations made within 7 days of the hire date may incur a 25% cancellation fee.
9.2. No refunds will be given once costumes have left the premises.
10. Liability
10.1. The Group accepts no responsibility for injury or damage resulting from costume use.
10.2. All costumes are hired “as is,” and the hirer should ensure they are suitable and safe for their intended purpose.
11. Agreement
By agreeing to the hire agreement or collecting costumes, the hirer confirms they have read, understood, and agree to these terms and conditions.
